Transition zones across agricultural field boundaries for integrated landscape research and management of biodiversity and yields

چکیده

Biodiversity conservation and agricultural production have been largely framed as separate goals for landscapes in the discourse on land use. Although there is an increasing tendency to move away from this dichotomy theory, perpetuated by spatially explicit approaches used research management practice. Transition zones (TZ) previously defined areas where two adjacent fields or patches interact, so they occur abundantly throughout landscapes. patterns TZ extensively studied, but their relationship yield social–ecological dimensions has neglected. Focusing European, temperate landscapes, we outline three of that together demonstrate how might be facilitate integrated landscape approach: (i) plant animal species’ use response boundaries resulting effects yield, a deeper understanding structure shapes quantity quality TZ; (ii) local knowledge field patch-level its interactions with biodiversity TZ, (iii) conflict prevention collaborative across land-use boundaries.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Assessment and Spatial Planning of Landscape Ecological Connectivity for Biodiversity Management (Case Study: Qazvin Province)

Habitat and ecosystem fragmentation and, consequently, the loss of landscape connectivity are major causes of biodiversity destruction, leading to disruption of material, energy, and information flow at the landscape scale. Given the importance of this issue, the current study aimed to evaluate the ecological connectivity and spatial planning of Qazvin Province, in order to re-establish and pro...

Biodiversity Hotspots and Zones of Ecological Transition

Biodiversity hotspots are areas of high priority for conservation (Reid 1998). They may be selected on the basis of their local species richness, degree of concentration of rare species (Prendergast et al. 1993) or the two measures combined with some assessment of urgency for conservation action (Myers et al. 2000). More targeted approaches identify " hotspots of complementarity " on the basis ...
